Welsh secretary William Hague today announced that a Japanese company is to create nearly 100 jobs in a £5m project at Imperial Park Newport - a joint venture involving Newport BC.

Surface Technology Systems is Europe's leading manufacturer of plasma systems which are used in making integrated circuits and other microchips.

The Welsh Development Agency will build the new production plant, complete with clean room facilities and testing bays, and will lease it to the company.

As well as Newport BC, Imperial Park partners include the WDA, and the Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine London.
