Kensington and Chelsea LBC has cancelled the NHS Loto's lottery registration after a High Court ruling.

The NHS Loto, whose draw is worth £1 million, had registered its 100 branches with the borough. But in 1994 the law was changed and any lottery worth £250,000 a year or more had to be registered with the Gaming Board.

The Loto claimed its branches counted as separate lotteries. But Mr Justice Hidden ruled there was only one lottery and that the registrations with the council were invalid.
