Norwich City Council and Norfolk CC have applied for cash from the Millennium Fund to build a scheme called Technopolis which will include a millennium library, a British centre for telematics and a high-tech museum as a visitor attraction.

The project will include a fibre-optic network linking local authorities, companies and perhaps homes. The scheme aims to create information technology employment with the help of European Union funding.
