Schools across Norfolk will benefit from over £90m of extra funding under the private finance initiative.

The financial boost to education in Norfolk will see improvements to 33 school buildings in eight areas.

Councillors decided that top priority should be given to schools which need to expand. The remaining schools were selected on the basis of their building improvement needs.

Alec Byrne (Con), cabinet member for education, said: 'We are delighted we are able to make such a significant impact on a backlog of repairs which currently stands at more than £350m and we are

hopeful that our successful Norwich PFI for £60m will enable us to reduce this back log even further.'
