A senior North Yorkshire CC councillor has been banned from taking part in planning decisions for three months, according to the Northern Echo (p3).

Councillor Yeoman Williamson breached a national code of conduct when he failed to declare an interest on a social club after campaigning against it. Cllr Williamson, who represents Eskdale, was sitting on the North York Moors National Park's planning committee. He spoke against the Crossing Club at Grosment in July.

He has been suspended from the next three meetings of the committee. A national park spokesman said it was the first time they had taken such a step but they were determined to uphold high standards of behaviour.
