North-west, North-east and Yorkshire and Humberside regional development agencies are to work together to tackle unemployment and inequality between the north and the south, reports the Financial Times (p12).

The RDAs, which officially start in April, have already been meeting to discuss the best way to co-ordinate the joint effort.

Graham Hall, chairman of the Yorks and Humberside RDA, said the three regions could benefit from joint strategies in areas such as transport and inward investment.
