The Express (p25) features the dilemma facing Norwich City Council; a blackbird has nested in its Christmas tree outside City Hall, and laid eggs which will not hatch for another six weeks. Council staff, who have named the bird Nesta, cannot remove the tree until her fledglings have flown away. The council would be liable for a fine of up to£3,000 under wildlife laws if it damaged the eggs.
