Middlesbrough BC is to appoint a head of trading standards for the second time in six months after its first choice, Eric Robinson, accepted a more prestigious, £55,000-a-year position at City of Edinburgh Council.

Mr Robinson was appointed to the post by a narrow margin over the incumbent John Mann, in August last year. Mr Robinson is currently county trading standards officer at Cleveland CC.

He claims there was no resentment at his early departure. 'Every elected member has recognised that Edinburgh is a tremendous opportunity in my position. Opportunities don't come to order,' he said.
