The Local Government Ombudsman has issued a complaint against Cleveland CC involving the circumstances surrounding the death of a resident at a council run unit for people with learning difficulties.

The judgement and actions of the council amounted to maladministration ruled the Ombudsman.

Maladministration also occurred in the way which the complaint made by the resident's parents was handled.

David Behan, Deputy Director of Social Services, said: 'We will be making financial compensation to the parents in line with the Ombudsman's recommendations'
