NALGO yesterday predicted council services throughout Strathclyde would be severely disrupted tomorrow by a one day stoppage involving thousands of employees, the Herald reports (p5).

Up to 10,000 workers are expected to answer a call by the union for industrial action in protest at the region's plans to ratify £21 million cuts in services and the 1.5% pay ceiling being imposed on public sector workers.

The action will also highlight the plight of almost 400 striking finance workers who begin the 14th week of a strike over council tax regrading today. NALGO said social work and nursery education would be among the services worst hit.
