Education Secretary David Blunkett has to decide whether to approve opt-out plans for 28 schools which were waiting final approval when the General Election was called, the Mail on Sunday reports (page 5, 4 May). Mr Blunkett is committed to stopping schools from opting out, but has to comply with existing laws until new legislation is drafted later this year. The Mail on Sunday suggests that he will delay the decisions, but could then lay himself open to legal challenges.
