Orkney Council says it has been unable to substantiate claims that anti-English racism was the reason for an attack on a pupil in one one of the authority's schools.

The Guardian (p10) reports that two children have been excluded from Kirkwall Grammar School and an investigation has begun into an alleged incident of playground bullying which led to 15-year-old Christopher Muir being knocked out and taken to hospital.
