The Local Government Commission spent £5.146m in 1993-94 on its review, up from £2.056m in the previous year, according to local government minister David Curry (WA, 3 Nov, col1260).

The DoE are making available £8.3m as grant in aid to the commission for 1994-95.

Mr Curry said that his department do not have overall figures for the expenditure incurred indirectly by central government or directly by local authorities on the local government review.
