Oxford University has conceded defeat over its plans to build a new business school on a controversial site in the heart of the historic university, the Financial Times reports (p8).

The university is now looking for an alternative city centre location for the school, which is being backed by Saudi businessman Wafic Said.

The original site had faced substantial opposition from Oxford city council, which had indicated that it was unlikely to grant planning permission.
