A contract worth more than £30m has been awarded by Oxfordshire CC to its in-house commercial services organisation for the maintenance of roads during the next five years, reports BBC Oxford.

In addition, the organisation has won a £7.5m contract for maintaining motorway and trunk roads in the county.

The organisation fought off competition from six private companies.

Director of commercial services Stan Guyford says winning the contracts has secured the future of the organisation's 130 staff.

He said the organisation had not had to make significant changes to its employees' terms and conditions of service to win the contracts.
