French banking group Paribas yesterday sold an 8.3 per cent stake in the technology company, Sema Group, the Times reports (p28).

Paribas made£270m, selling 38 million shares at 710p each. The bank still holds 14.1 per cent of Sema and said it would not sell any more shares for 180 days.

The paper reports Sema Group narrowly missed out on joining the FTSE 100 last month. Paribas is one of two large French shareholders to have backed the Anglo-French group since the 1980s. French Telecom, the other shareholder, said it did not plan to cut its 22.5 per cent stake.
