CHANCELLOR THREATENS TO FREEZE PUBLIC SECTOR PAY

Chancellor Gordon Brown is calling for this year's low public sector pay settlement to be repeated over the next two years. This year public sector pay rose on average by 2.25 per cent.

He also told the Confederation of British Industry last night that he wanted to encourage local and regional pay flexibility.
