The independent Police Complaints Authority has agreed to supervise an investigation into the alleged use of 25 Cromwell Street as a brothel by police officers.
Gloucestershire Constabulary voluntarily referred a complaint for investigation to the PCA.
The complainant wrote directly to the PCA saying that the original allegations, which she had made, had not been investigated properly. The authority forwarded the letter to Gloucestershire Constabulary, as required by the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
PCA member Mr Tony Williams said: 'No decision has yet been taken on who the investigating officer will be. I will ensure that these allegations are inquired into as fully as possible.'
