Fund manager Pavilion Asset Management is launching an Eco Friendly Fund. The fund, which is a Pension Fund Pooled Vehicle (PFPV), is one of the first of its kind and aims to cater for the growing interest in socially responsible investment.

The Eco Friendly Fund, which has a minimum investment of£500,000, invests in UK equities according to environmental and socially responsible principles. The investment process is based on a preference strategy which combines positive and negative criteria to pick stocks whose economic activities are more environmentally and socially sustainable than others.

Pavilion is one of the first investment houses to use the Ethical Investment Research Service (EIRIS) on-line screening service. The service allows Pavilion's fund managers to pick stocks from the FTSE All Share Index based on the environmental and social impact of their activities, using an average score to find the best class in each sector.
