In the second of a series of articles on urban regeneration and development, The Financial Times (p7) looks at Peterborough, which is part of one of the UK's most buoyant economies.

The city, on the fringes of the prosperous 'Silicon Fen' between East Anglia and the Midlands, has expanded since it became a new town in 1968.

Three decades later the heavy manufacturing industry that used to dominate the city has been replaced by an expanding service sector. Peterborough is expected to outstrip the national growth rate by 3.5 times in the next 10 years.
