Pembrokeshire County Councillor, the Rev Emyr Huw Jones, has been thrown out of Plaid Cymru, the Western Mail reports (p8.

The recent expulsion follows a decision by the Congregational minister to do battle against a fellow minister and party member for the same constituency seat at next year' local government elections.

Mr Jones, an independent councillor, decided last month to contest the nearby Clydau ward seat, currently held by the Rev Aled ap Gwynedd.

Mr Jones backs parents fighting to save a number of small primary schools in the area, while Mr ap Gwynedd supports plans for change by Pembrokeshire's diector of education.
