Plans to turn Aberdeen's 800 taxicabs into a fleet of yellow, US style cabs has met with fierce opposition from drivers, the Scotsman reports (p8).

Drivers are planning legal action, claiming it could cost the taxi trade about £4 million in costs to respray in a council approved shade of yellow, and in depreciation costs.

There was further confusion over the legal status of the council refusing licensing pending respray, or of taking the decision about yellow cabs at all, the paper says.
