Denise Platt, shadow chair elect of the Commission for Social Care Inspection, will set out her vision of a user-centred regulator to social services directors next week.

According to a CSCI spokeswoman, she will use video evidence of good practice in a speech next Friday at the annual national social services conference.

The spokeswoman added: 'She will be saying that CSCI will be more than the sum of its parts. It's going to be a voice for people who use social services, and value the staff who deliver these

services.'

CSCI is expected to replace the Social Services Inspectorate, the SSI/Audit Commission joint review teams, and the social care arm of the National Care Standards Commission next April.

It will assume a shadow role with the passage of the Health and Social Care Bill, expected next month.
