Ex-leader faces fraud charges

  • Comment

Former Eden DC leader Colin Nineham has been charged with fraud by the trading standards department of Cumbria CC.

Mr Nineham (Ind) resigned as a councillor at Eden last year after serving a decade on the council and just over a year as leader. He is also a former Cumbria CC councillor.

A Cumbria statement said: “Colin Nineham, Lynda Nineham, Ian Collingwood and Paul Andrew Wilson have all been charged with a range of offences in relation to alleged fraud concerning waste disposal and recycling credits.” The four, all from Penrith, are due to appear at Penrith Magistrates’ Court on 5 January 2011.

Cumbria said trading standards officers would not release more information on the charges following legal advice.
