Damning finance review previously hidden by county published

  • Comment

A damning report into Worcestershire CC’s finances, which had previously been kept hidden, has finally been made public.

A Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy financial resilience review from last year, which showed Worcestershire had a funding gap rising to £60.1m by 2020-21, is due to be discussed by members of the county council’s overview and scrutiny performance board this afternoon.

This comes after an investigation by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism for LGC revealed the contents of the review which criticised Worcestershire’s financial planning as “overly optimistic”, “counter-intuitive” and in need of “radical overhaul”.

The review can be read in full by clicking here.
