The Department of Health has hired Ben Dyson as its director of the NHS group.
Mr Dyson joins from NHS England where he was director of commissioning policy and primary care, LGC’s sister title Health Service Journal understands.
He replaces Ian Dodge, who moved to NHS England in July to be director of commissioning strategy.
Mr Dodge’s directorate, created in a restructure of NHS England, incorporates several responsibilities which were previously held by Mr Dyson.
Mr Dyson has taken on the same DH portfolio of work as previously held by Mr Dodge.
It includes leading on NHS policy, strategy and delivery, and managing government relationships with NHS England, Monitor and the NHS Trust Development Authority.
Before joining NHS England in 2012 Mr Dyson was DH director of commissioning and primary care policy.
