Vote now on localism

Voting has opened to decide on the five pledges to be included in LGC’s Localist Manifesto 2010.

The project, supported by Vertex, was set up to work with councils to compile a set of election promises that they would like adopted by the main political parties.

Now it is time to decide on the five that will make it into the final version:

Andrew Warren, managing director of public sector, Vertex said: “The Manifesto initiative is setting out an agenda and providing the opportunity to influence thinking within an environment that must now place a premium on action.”

You can vote for the preferred option online until 18 December.

The final manifesto will be published in LGC and presented to Ed Miliband, Oliver Letwin and Danny Alexander, who are writing the 2010 election manifestos for the Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties respectively.

Climate change secretary Ed Miliband has pledged to consider the final proposals. “I look forward to reading the suggestions of LGC readers for Labour’s manifesto,” he said.
