Dransfield gets new Birmingham role

  • Comment

Birmingham City Council’s chief financial officer has beaten colleagues to become head of a new super-directorate within the council.

Paul Dransfield is to lead a new department which will include the existing legal, human resources, finance and policy directorates as the council undergoes a major organisational restructure.

The post was not advertised and the finance chief was selected in an internal competition against colleagues.

Elsewhere in the council, the planning and regeneration departments are to be merged and all of the authority’s 26,000 non-schools staff have been offered voluntary redundancy.
