Great Yarmouth BC has terminated its interim chief executive’s contract with a view to sharing senior management with North Norfolk DC.
In papers due to go before Great Yarmouth’s councillors today (Thurs), it said leader Graham Plant (Con) had cancelled Gordon Mitchell’s contract on 7 October.
LGC reported in July 2014 how Mr Mitchell had been appointed after former chief executive Janet Ratcliffe left the local authority due to ill health.
The council papers proposed Sheila Oxtoby, chief executive of North Norfolk, should take on the role “on a shared basis” on an interim basis before deciding whether to make it permanent.
“Members will already be aware of informal discussions that have taken place with North Norfolk District Council on shared services generally,” the papers said.
Great Yarmouth’s interim section 151 officer Andy Radford has also left the authority, the papers said, so it has been proposed North Norfolk’s head of finance Karen Sly should take on the role on an “interim and shared basis”.
