Liverpool names new proposed chief

Tony Reeves has been recommended as Liverpool City Council’s next chief executive by an appointments panel.

He has been working for Liverpool as a consultant since the spring and would succeed Ged Fitzgerald, who resigned in May after having been suspended for six months.

Mr Reeves was chief executive at Bradford City MDC from 2006 to 2014, when he left to join the consultancy firm Deloitte.

He was earlier deputy chief executive at Wakefield MDC and originally worked in housing at Stockport MBC, later becoming head of housing at Calderdale MBC and executive director of housing and property services at Barnsley MBC.
