Mr Furber, who is currently director of public health at Wakefield MDC, will begin as centre director for Yorkshire and Humber in January.

He succeeds Martyn Regen, who is retiring at the end of November.

PHE’s regional director for the north of England Paul Johnstone said: “We know Andrew is already well-versed in the public health opportunities and challenges we face in Yorkshire and the Humber, as well as bringing wide experience from regional, national and international spheres.”
