Brent misconduct allegations dropped

  • Comment

Allegations of gross misconduct against Brent LBC’s finance director have been withdrawn, the council has said.

Clive Heaphy, who was suspended in September shortly after chief executive Gareth Daniel was ousted, will not return to work and has left voluntarily.

In a statement, a spokesman for Brent said: “The council wishes to announce that the allegations of gross misconduct against its director of finance and corporate service, Clive Heaphy, have been withdrawn.

“Mr Heaphy has decided, however, to voluntarily leave the council’s employment to pursue other career opportunities.”

At the time of his suspension Brent said the allegations did not relate to financial misconduct.

Since Mr Daniel left the authority, Brent appointed former Ofsted chief inspector Christine Gilbert as interim chief executive.
