Digest: Triple lock to stay in DUP deal

  • Comment

The state pension triple lock and universal eligibility for the winter fuel allowance will be retained under the government’s confidence and supply arrangement with Northern Ireland’s Democratic Unionist Party, it has been announced.

The Conservative Party manifesto had committed to revising both of these policies and making any additional funds available for social care.

Details of the agreement, which is reported to be worth £1bn in additional funding for Northern Ireland over the next two years, were released this morning.
