Councils up and down the country today took part in the tweetathon #OurDay to promote local government services to residents.

Councils up and down the country today took part in the tweetathon #OurDay to promote local government services to residents.

Last year’s campaign, organised by the Local Government Association, involved 8,500 council employees sending 18,000 tweets about their work in service of the public.

As part of the campaign, LGC has lifted the paywall on Idea Exchange, our best practice section, for one week.

In here you will find details of the remarkable work that councils do to combat some of society’s most intractable problems.

Our archive includes case studies of councils’ many projects to reduce ingrained poverty and inequality, provide routes out of unemployment, protect the most vulnerable,  cut carbon emissions and promote vibrant and diverse cultures.

Feel free to browse the content, which readers can access without a subscription or registration until 20 November, and to use them to promote your council’s work for #OurDay.
