A former district chief executive has been selected for the top job at Suffolk CC.
Former Braintree DC chief executive Nicola Beach, who has been Essex CC’s executive director of infrastructure and environment since last July, will join Suffolk in June after her appointment was approved by full council today.
Council leader Colin Noble (Con) told the meeting the selection process led to a choice between Ms Beach and interim chief executive Sue Cook.
“This was one of the most difficult decsions I have been involved with during my time with the council,” said Cllr Noble. ”[Ms Cook] has done an outstanding job.”
Ms Cook has been in the role since the departure of Deborah Cadman in July last year.
The council said at the time that no candidate had the “exceptionally high standards expected for the role” following a “very thorough assessment”.
In a statement, Ms Beach said: “I have lived in Suffolk for many years and love this county.
“I am also passionate about delivering great services to local people and I look forward to joining a strong team at the county council and working with councillors, residents, colleagues and partners.”
