LGcomms announces new leadership team

  • Comment

The national body focused on improving the standard of communications in local government has announced its new leadership team.

The move comes as LGcommunications, which is made up of an association of authorities and overseen by the Local Government Association and the Public Relations & Communications Association (PRCA), adopted a new constitution which turns the organisation into a company limited by guarantee.

The new leadership body will still be chaired by Simon Jones with Emma Rodgers, strategic manager (communications and marketing) at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, as vice chair.

Andy Allsop, head of communications and marketing at Essex CC, will be national secretary and Ben Knowles, head of external communications at Hackney LBC, becomes treasurer.

PRCA director general Francis Ingham has become LGcommunication’s first executive director.

Mr Ingham said the new leadership structure would allow LGcommunications to deliver “even greater insight and even more services to the local government PR sector”.
