North-eastern unitary fills chief vacancy

  • Comment

Gateshead Council is set to appoint a new chief executive.

Sheena Ramsey has been recommended by the council’s special appointments committee to fill the role vacated by Jane Robinson in July after she became chief operating officer at Durham University.

Ms Ramsey leaves Worcester City Council where she has been managing director for 14 months.

Before that she was Knowsley MBC’s chief executive for nearly 10 years, and was also assistant chief executive at Newcastle City Council between 1999 and 2005.

Ms Ramsey’s appointment is set to be approved by full council tomorrow. If that happens Ms Ramsey is likely to start in her new role at the end of February.
