Political group leaders on Bradford City Council will be meeting today to
discuss the disturbances over the weekend, BBC Radio Four's Today programme
heard this morning.
Conservative council leader Margaret Eaton told the programme: 'We will talk
about how we build bridges again with the community and how we actually need
to make urgent connections with our partner organisations'. The council
works closely with other public sector organisations and employers in the
city, she said.
She said greater integration among the communities would not be an easy fix,
when many people grew up not meeting others from different ethnic
backgrounds. 'We've got to look at our school and education system as a
starting point', she told Today.
