Council public relations officers faced with communicating comprehensive performance assessment results this month can get help from an online toolkit.

The updated kit, called Communicating CPA, is published by the Improvement & Development Agency on its website.

Advice is included on how to communicate results, good and bad, to the public, media, residents and councillors, with case studies of past examples.

Audit Commission communications director Colin Douglas said: 'Communicating CPA is not just about moving categories, but how councils are improving within categories, and lessons learned since the last assessment.'
