Career: Before becoming chief executive at Brent, Mr Daniel held a number of positions at the council

  • Director of partnership and research

  • Head of central policy unit

  • Divisional manager for strategy at the social services department

  • Principal development officer in the same department

Before moving into managerial roles he was a social worker at Brent, where he was also actively involved in the Ealing NALGO trade union branch.

Politics:

  • Elected member of the Greater London Council as representative for Ealing North.

  • Served as a local councillor in Ealing from 1986-90 and was chair of Ealing’s planning and economic development committee.

Education:

  • St. Edward’s College, Liverpool.

  • Studied politics, philosophy and economics at Jesus College, Oxford.

  • Qualification in social work at the Polytechnic of the South Bank in London.

Personal life: Married with three children. Lists his interests as foreign travel, hill walking, photography, aviation, jazz and blues music and Liverpool FC.
