The Daily Telegraph reports on what it calls 'the controversy surrounding government plans to increase competition in local authorities' (p27).

The paper says building professionals have greeted the 65 % figure for CCT in professional and property services with dismay. They fear that such a high percentage could make it imposible to retain qualified staff or monitor contracts.

The paper quotes spokesmen from the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors as being concerned about how building standards will be maintained.
