Five proposed unitary district authorities - Darlington, Hartlepool, Langbaurgh, Middlesborough and Stockton - have formed the Tees Valley Development Company in a bid to attract investment to the area.

The TVDC will be a point of contact to potential investors and will work with the Teesside Development Corporation, the Durham and Tyne and Wear Development Corporations and regional agencies.

The corporation - with an annual budget of £2m - aims to create 400 jobs starting with a 20 strong board of directors.
