Lambeth LBC last week suspended three housing managers after it emerged that a council hostel for the homeless had been used by prostitutes.

Tuli Wanogho, who managed the Tooting Bec Gardens hostel, and his superiors Keith Careswell and David Ward were suspended when a management investigation found they had charges of gross misconduct to answer.

The charges relate to harassing staff, failure to address concerns raised by staff and residents about prostitution, and failure to protect potentially vulnerable staff and residents.

Investigators found that the last known prostitute left the hostel in November 1994, and staff confirm that there have been no further problems there.
