A survey of voters has revealed that politicians are not trusted to understand what people want from public services.

The poll, carried out by YouGov, showed 76% of respondents were either not confident or not very confident that politicians understood people's concerns on public services.

The survey's findings coincided with the launch of a joint initiative by the CBI employers' group, charities and the National Consumer Council, aimed at 'putting the voice of users at the heart of the debate on public service reform' (Financial Times, p4)
