A new code of conduct to stop corruption amongst politicians at local and regional level will be under discussion at a conference organised by the Council of Europe congress of local and regional authorities on Friday.
The conference will debate the idea of codes of conduct as a way of promoting good ethics amongst local and regional representatives.
It will look at Council of Europe policies already in place to fight all kinds of corruption, with a special focus on public ethics and the financing of political parties.
The conference, to be held in Rome, will be opened by Italian state undersecretary of interior Antonio Dali, state undersecretary of justice Iole Santelli, mayor of Rome Walter Veltroni and congress president Herwig van Staa.
