Teddy Taylor, Conservative MP for Rochford and Southend East, has been rebuffed in an attempt to win justice for public sector pensioners who have remarried and lost widow's benefits, reported the Financial Mail on Sunday (p25).

He tabled a question in the commons asking home secretary Jack Straw if he intended to change the rules for schemes in the public sector. But home office minister Paul Boateng replied that the government had 'no plans' to change the regulations.
