Public services excel in Welsh local government Oscars

  • Comment
Excellence Wales awards have been presented to 26 councils, parks and police authorities and fire and rescue services.

Local government minister Brian Gibbons said: "It is important that we share good practice and encourage all local authorities to follow suit."

Excellence Wales is run by the Welsh Local Government Association and funded by the Welsh Assembly Government.

Over 60 applications were received from councils, police and national park authorities and fire and rescue services.

WLGA chief executive Steve Thomas said: “The commitment all across Wales to sharing innovation and good practice for the broader benefit of Welsh public services is inspiring. We must continue to build on and promote our successes; together we can make a difference to our communities.”

The WLGA plans a series of ‘Learning Exchange’ events throughout this year to share good practice.

The Excellence Wales supplement giving full details of the successful applications is available by clicking on the Resources link below right.
