The Times Educational Supplement reports on a pamphlet published this week by a former education minister proposing that new state schools be put out to tender so that existing schools or the private sector can bid for the contracts to run them.

'Brighton Schools' by Michael Fallon says the government should relax the rules to let redundant school premises be offered for alternative educational use in partnership with private schools or colleges.
