Scottish education minister Raymond Robertson drew attention today to the appearance of advertisements for two HM Inspectors of Schools with expertise in pre- school education.
'From the very beginning of our pre-school initiative, I have emphasised the importance of ensuring that the places made available offer educational experience of good quality. This commitment was given in the consultation paper The Future of Scottish Pre-School Education issued in August 1995; and the responses to the consultation expressed strong support for effective quality assurance and for an enlarged role for HM Inspectors of Schools in this area.
'The advertisements now appearing in the press for two HM Inspectors with expertise in pre-school education will enable the Inspectorate to take a lead role in the quality assurance arrangements which are integral to the government's initiative.'
