Details of the Queen's extensive Golden Jubilee programme, which will take her to every part of the UK, have been announced in Parliament.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will be travelling as widely as possible around the United Kingdom during Jubilee year, although they will not be able to visit all cities and counties.

As well as the Queen's programme, public events already confirmed include:

-- The lighting of at least 455 beacons - over four times as many as during the Silver Jubilee

-- 70 towns and cities taking part in Music Live Street Festivals organised by the BBC

Over 100 other confirmed public events in the searchable calendar- launched today - on the Golden Jubilee 2002.

The Queen's programme was announced in a written parliamentary answer by the prime minister. Mr Blair said:

'I welcome this opportunity, on behalf of the whole nation, to offer the warmest congratulations to the Queen on the 50th anniversary of her accession, and to express gratitude for half a century of devoted service to the people of the United Kingdom.'
